Climate Friendly Work
Mike's Maps like to be as friendly towards to the environment as possible, especially given that we are in a climate emergency. Buying a bespoke map from me is a low impact way to treat yourself or someone you know!
All my map drawing activities are zero carbon (ISP aside), and all equipment used to make maps use electricity exclusively from 100% renewable sources. All the hardware I use for drawing maps is "pre-loved" to further reduce the impact caused by manufacturing. Mike's Maps is also a paper-free business, as all maps are digital only. Almost all other waste is either composted or recycled. Mike's Maps does not involve travel at present.
My ISP have the target of being net-zero by 2030, which is the biggest area that needs improvement. Regarding my hosting services, they are now supplied with 100% renewable energy in the UK and Germany (Mike's Maps is UK based), and seeking to switch to renewables wherever possible in other locations.
I also highly recommend using Ecosia for your web searches, as they plant trees the more you search with them. Win win!
